Prescott was designated "Arizona's Christmas City" by Arizona Governor Rose Mofford in 1989.
Prescott served as the capital of Arizona Territory until 1867, when the capital was moved to Tucso.
The capital was then returned to Prescott in 1877 and was then finally moved to Phoenix in 1889.
