Infra Red lighting is an ideal way to achieve good quality CCTV pictures during darkness without causing unnecessary light polution and annoyance to neighbours and passers by or causing danger to road users by shining bright white light in their vision. Usually around the 840 / 850 nm wavelength Infra Red lights are barely visible to the naked eye with just a faint glow usually visible directly from the front of the lamp. To IR sensitive cameras however it is very bright and images as clear as in daylight can be achieved in what seems to be total darkness by the use of the correct combination of camera and Infra Red Lamp. Cameras that are IR sensitive switch to Monochrome (black and white) when its dark and then become highly sensitive to Infra Red Light. Camsecure uk infra red lights are all solid state LED based models providing a very long life with no bulbs to regularly change and have built in light sensors to switch them on or off automatically.
