Success at last, on 22nd September 2010 the Chimney and final
section of the roof were painted completing the effort to minimise
the visual effect of the Laundry plant on the countryside. Blotcam
has done its job well. There are now plans for the monitoring of the
construction of the new roadway planned for later this year (2011)

Good news at last! (updated 5th October 2009)
We have an email from the Manager of Sunlight Laundry adivising that Phase II
painting is to start next week.
The plan is to stage the scaffolding on Monday, prepare the surfaces of roof
and chimney stack, and then the actual painting. Keep an eye on the progress
here.
Blot Cam History
This camera has been installed by a frustrated and desperate resident (one of
many) as a means of demonstrating to the public the extent of environmental
and visual damage that has been caused by the building of an industrial laundry
plant, in a beautiful part of Newton Abbot.
The residents have been (and still are) fighting a long hard battle against the
decision which they say has ruined that part of the natural countryside.
In an attempt to prove their argument to as many people living outside the area
as possible, one resident has installed a Camsecure PTZ dome camera system
which often shows the extent of the effects this plant has had on the local
residents.
Camera Location
As you can see from the map, the Blot Cam is located in a housing area on the
hill adjacent to the main road. For years the residents enjoyed a lovely view of
the valley unspoilt by industry.
Ramblers, dog walkers, children all used to enjoy the area until the laundry was
built.
You can see the effect on the view and surrounding countryside which
prompted teh residents to take action against it and by using a Camsecure
streaming camera they have been able to win at least some success with the
painting of the building to blend in more with the surroundings.
