Lake of Menteith, or Loch Inchmahome, is on the Carse of Stirling, flood plain of the upper reaches of the rivers Forth and Teith, upstream of Stirling.
The lake has an interesting past too and on the largest of the many islands in the lake named Inchmahome, is situated Inchmahome Priory which is an ancient monastery and was a refuge to Mary, Queen of Scots, in 1547.
