Eddleston is a small village and lies 4 miles north of Peebles and 9 miles south of Penicuik. Rannoch lies on the southern shores of Loch Rannoch and forms part of the Tay Forest Park. A short distance from Rannoch Forest lies the Black Wood of Rannoch which is a Caledonian Forest Reserve rich in native trees, plants, insects, birds and animals.
