Lower Rivington Reservoir is at the end of the Rivington chain of reservoirs in Lancashire with Upper Rivington Reservoir to the north and Rivington Water Treatment Works being to the south.
This chain of reservoirs was built to supply Liverpool with water and the engineer tasked with the project was Thomas Hawksley with the completion date of 1857.
