Withernsea has a wide promenade which reaching north and south from Pier Towers, the historic entrance whaich was built in 1877. 
Withernsea pier, originally 399 yards long in 1878  was gradually reduced in length due to a number of impacts from ships. The Saffron in 1880 followed by an unnamed ship in 1888 and then a Grimsby fishing boat and the Henry Parr in 1893 left the pier with a just 50 feet of damaged wood and steel.
