Wootton is an accurate recreation of an Edwardian country station complete with waiting room, ticket office and toilets. There is a lovely picnic area very close by or you could take a short walk up the road to a country pub, or along the former route of the railway line towards Whippingham station and have a lovely day here.
The Isle of Wight Steam Railway is a heritage railway on the Isle of Wight which is owned and operated by the Isle of Wight Railway Co. Ltd. and mostly run by enthusiastic volunteers.
The first railway on the Isle of Wight was opened in 1862 and linked Newport and Cowes. This quickly became the central point of the Isle of Wight Central Railway.
